Virus Scanner

I like finding tools that make working through computer issues quick and painless (for me).  I subscribe to the SunBelt blog which is affiliated with a company that also sells virus scan software.  I was asked to look at someones computer that had been infected with a malware or trojan of some kind and decided to try out their software.

I recommend their boot cd offering if you just need a one time clean up.  Very simple to use and effective.  Be warned that the deep scan takes extensive time.

Just burn it on a cd and follow the web page instructions.

Mystery Hour

Friday night I had the privilege of experiencing some of the local flavor in Springfield attending 'the mystery hour' at the Skinny Improv. It's a once a month show that is styled like a late night talk show. They pack in an hour of skits, improv stand up, local guests and musical guests. Just like the real thing but without the dumb commercials. It's hard to explain everything, but it was sufficiently random and fun.

Guest interviews of one of the Springfield council members, and a couple dudes from NYC that participated in the SATO48 competition. Musical guests were ... I don't remember, but they did a good job. All in all a great time, I think the next show is June 5. Bring a friend and make them pay, get in free!

Peace.

Read through the Bible 2009

Happy New Years! Another year gone, and a new one starting. Can 2009 be crazier than 2008?

The church does a one year read through the bible plan every year, which got me thinking. I found some online resources that I thought were pretty cool. For those of you who use RSS feed readers this may be of interest. You can get an RSS of your daily Bible reading to read through the Bible in one year.

Here is the link.

Peace.

Skunk Works

After a great weekend of gaming with friends, I got inspired to create stllan.com. I'm not sure exactly what I'm wanting to do with it, but I'm thinking for now an open blog and some youtube and picasa links for media. I'm also going to explore some money making options to see if we can fund part or all of our future events.

If you have any ideas comments or suggestions feel free to comment. Flames will be routed to /dev/null

The First Time

Last night, McNeal and I were discussing the first time we saw The Matrix and how it is something you just don't forget. I can remember exactly where I was and what I thought when I saw it. I remember being at my friends house and being totally blown away from the moment Trinity ran around the room dodging the gun fire and then kicked the guy across the room. Jaw dropping. Now it's hard to imagine an action movie without some sort of Matrix-esque action sequence. I can't think of many other genre changing movies, at least not in my lifetime.

Apple Legal

Maybe it's only humorous to me -- don't stop me if you've already heard this. After reading this article on Engadget about the iPhone SDK legal agreement I had to find their reference to iTunes.

"You also agree that you will not use these products for any purposes prohibited by United States law, including, without limitation, the development,
design, manufacture or production of missiles, or nuclear, chemical or biological weapons."
[excerpt from images.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/itunes.pdf paragraph 10]

Inquiring minds want to know. No, you cannot use iTunes to develop nuclear weapon.
